Wit is a movie based on an award-winning play, that shows the detailed struggle of life with cancer. In this movie, the story revolves around Vivian, an English professor who is diagnosed with stage-4 ovarian cancer at the age of 48. After consulting with physicians Vivian consent for and consented to aggressive chemotherapy by Dr. Kelkeian Facing death on a personal level. As treatment continued she started to recover from it but she started feeling more of a subject than a person for doctors. Throughout the journey, only one nurse was emotionally connected with her and grew a special bond with her. 

Wit movie is a powerful and emotional rollercoaster that puts us in the shoes of cancer patients and shows all the emotions cancer patients go through. This is the best movie about pharmacists, this movie is based on a true story about Dr. Hunter “ Patch” Adams. Patch Adams used his personality to change the course of medicine. After staying in the hospital for a long amount of time he found out empathy and humor are two elements that are important for healing from any disease/ disorder. After this experience, he decided to enroll himself in the medical college of Virginia believing to be a Medical professional. 

Throughout this movie, Adam has clashed with the school’s dean who was against forming any kind of relationship with patients. Instead, Adam believed understanding the patient is important, he used to greet patients while using the clown’s nose to make them laugh. Such behavior of Adam was unacceptable to the Dean, who attempted many times to expel him. Later, he decided to open a clinic without a license to treat patients with humor and empathy.

4. Side effects:

Side Effect movie was released in 2013, it is a thriller movie. In this movie, the wife killed her husband due to the side effects of antidepressants. The movie starts with a woman named Emily Trailor, who is in depression, and her husband is released from prison for insider trading. Emily has a psychiatrist who prescribes and monitors the side effects of her antidepressants.

After the attempted suicide, Emily was prescribed a new antidepressant whose experiments were ongoing, that medicine is called albixia. Initially, Emily responded very well to the drug, But she reported the side effects of sleepwalking. One night, when her husband returned home she stabbed her husband with a knife while, she was having a sleepwalking episode. Emily was arrested and declared insane and found not guilty on the condition that she stay in a mental institution. Until the psychiatrist doesn’t confirm her condition. This movie is a fiction movie. The plot of this movie is interesting and twisted. This movie is worth watching. 

5. John Q. (2002):

John Q. tells the story of John Quincy, who goes way beyond when he understood his insurance would not cover the heart transplant surgery of his son. At the start of the movie, his son collapses while playing basketball and is immediately taken to the hospital. Then, the family learns that Michale’s heart has enlarged and he needs a heart transplant. Unfortunately, this won’t be covered under his insurance due to a change in his policy. Later, Michael learns that he is not qualified for Medicaid, and to register a name in the list he needs a downpayment of $ 250,000. After not being able to raise this amount of money, John takes the hospital hostage in an attempt to save his son. 

Although this story is fiction, it is evident that violence has become very common in us. The movie highlighted many things about the healthcare system, including how expensive it is. 

Overall, this movie was ahead of its time and contained noticeable plot holes. It is must must-watch movie for pharmacists, It is a watching movie. 

6. Mr. Gower, It’s a Wonderful Life:

The character who played the pharmacist is not flattering but it is a most honest movie. In this movie, Mr. Geower is a small- pharmacist who employs the protagonist of the movie George at his soda shop. One day Grower receives information about his son’s death, instead of going home he continues to work and fill a capsule for an ill child. George notices that Mr. Grower is filling the wrong composition of the pill which can kill the boy. Grower got upset after seeing George didn’t deliver the medication but later he realized it saved that boy’s life.


This movie shows that pharmacists are other human beings who can make mistakes, which can be fatal too. Pharmacists must watch this movie to feel relatable and take a takeaway from the movie.
